We’ve seen many incarnations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s Sherlock Holmes, both in TV and film. And now the detective is getting animated, or more specifically, gnomified.
The 2011 feature film Gnomeo and Juliet has a 2018 sequel coming out, entitled Sherlock Gnomes. Gnomeo and Juliet return for the follow-up, voiced by James McAvoy and Emily Blunt. The couple recruit Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp) to help investigate the disappearance of their fellow gnomes in the garden they’ve just moved to.
This Sherlock has the same dry sense of humor we’re used to seeing with “our” Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch), which you can check out in the new trailer below:

Sherlock wouldn’t be complete without his Watson, who will be voiced here by Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange).
You can look for Sherlock Gnomes, directed by John Stevenston (Kung Fu Panda), in theaters on March 23, 2018.
