We remember reporting on John Barrowman joining Arrow five years ago — boy, does time fly. And, now we learn that he’s making his exit.
The Scottish/American actor is typically Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky, with a huge, excitable smile on his face, as seen in this Anglo post 10 Times John Barrowman Won the Internet… but, when he made the announcement that he would not be returning for season six of the DC Comics series, he seemed to do so with a heavy heart.
(SPOILER ALERT) In the season five finale of the CW superhero series, we saw the demise of one of the show’s fan-favorite characters, Malcom Merlyn and his alter-ego the Dark Archer. Barrowman (Torchwood), who mastered the duel-role, turned to Instagram to set the record straight on the future (or lack thereof) for his role in the Arrowverse:
He’s sad. And we’re sad to see him go. But, it was a great run… and, now, this may free up some time for Barrowman to take on new roles — or even return to some old ones.
If waiting until the actor decides what to do next feels like a slog, you’ll be delighted to hear that Barrowman will be heading to the U.S. for a book tour to promote his memoir, Anything Goes, co-written with his sister Carole E. Barrowman. Visit his official website to see if he’ll be swinging by your neck of the woods.
The world is your cosmos, John!
