We’ve never actually been to the world-renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show, but it feels like it… with the stunning photos that come rolling out each year. The annual event, located in Chelsea, London, is open to the public, and it also attracts royals, including Queen Elizabeth II herself, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and… dames!
We have one specific dame in mind: Judi Dench. This year, the acting aristocrat has been honored with the ultimate floral tribute: a rose named after her. The prickly — yet pretty — apricot-colored perennial will henceforth be known as Rosa Dame Judi Dench, reports BBC News.
Dench was at the preview of the show, which happens quietly one day prior to the official opening today (Mary 23), and what was her response? Perhaps tickled by the gesture — not to mention the delicate petals and smell of her new namesake — the actress let out a sneeze! Gesundheit, Judi.
While we may not have the “action shot” of Dench soaking in the scent of the Rosa, here is a look at a range of colorful snaps showing off the famous flower show’s range of well-groomed blooms:
The show starts today and runs through this coming Saturday, May 27.
Does a rose by any other name still smell as sweet? … no, even better in this case!Read More
