We all know (and love) Ruth Wilson as the relentless siren Alice Morgan in Luther, where she stars opposite Idris Elba. And, we’ve also enjoyed watching her play one half of a cheating couple in Showtime’s The Affair.

This time around, she takes on the role of a single woman in the upcoming supernatural film The Little Stranger, reports Empire magazine. She joins Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina; The Revenant), who takes on the role of a doctor in post WW-II Britain, returning to a crumbling mansion in Warwickshire, England, in the 1940s. He sets his sights on marrying Wilson’s character, Caroline Ayres, the daughter of one of the owners of the great house known as Hundred Halls.

The film is based on Sarah Waters‘ gothic novel by the same name, published in 2009.

And, who is the little stranger in the title? Oh, you know, just a poltergeist, haunting the great house.

Room director Lenny Abrahamson is on deck. He worked with Gleeson on the film Frank, a comedy revolving around an eccentric pop band. The film also starred Michael Fassbender, but we didn’t get to see much of him, which you can see why in the below trailer:

The Little Stranger is set for a 2018 release.
