The official trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle debuted on the Late Late Show last night (April 24), and there was a surprise in store for anyone who thought the first film was the last we’d see of Harry Hart.
The impeccably tailored British secret agent was of course played impeccably by Colin Firth, though, if we weren’t mistaken, he did seem to cop a bullet through the eye at the end of Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Ever since the sequel was announced, there have been rumors all was not what it seemed: first Colin’s co-star Taron Egerton posted a cryptic clue that reports of his death “have been greatly exaggerated,” and finally photos of Colin himself on set proved once and for all he would be a part of the Kingsmen’s second outing.
So what really happened to Harry? Well, now we finally get to see, thanks to an intriguing shot of him tacked on the end of the latest trailer:
That’s Mark Strong there, who returns alongside Taron Egerton, Michael Caine, and Hanna Alström for the next outing of the secret service gang.
Taron’s character Gary “Eggsy” Unwin is now a fully fledged Kingsman, who faces a new challenge when their headquarters is destroyed and he learns of a new threat from a powerful mogul called Poppy (Julianne Moore).
The Kingsmen are forced to go to America and team up with the Statesmen, or the U.S. equivalent of the organization, including Channing Tatum‘s Agent Tequila, Halle Berry‘s tech guru Ginger, and Pedro Pascal’s Agent Whiskey, all of whom are led by Jeff Bridges‘ Agent Champagne.
Rounding off the cast are Vinnie Jones and Sir Elton John, though exactly what the latter’s role will entail is still firmly under wraps.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens in theaters on September 22.
