The Doctor and a Mondasian Cyberman (Photos: BBC)

Welcome to this week’s Doctor Who’s Day roundup, a sleek and metallic replacement for the real thing, made of replacement parts that have all been gathered together using cutting edge technology. Or, to be entirely accurate, a big gatheration of Doctor Who-related stuff from the last week in social media.

And we begin this week with yesterday’s announcement that the original Cybermen — the flesh-handed cyborgs from Mondas who inadvertently caused the Doctor’s very first regeneration in “The Tenth Planet” — are making a return to Season 10.

Here they are in all their original eerie glory:

And here they are facing off against the Twelfth Doctor:

All the information is on the Doctor Who website, including the announcement that Rachel Talalay will return to direct the episodes:

Returning to this particular era in Cyber-development is something that Peter Capaldi has been talking up for quite a while. Here he is at Comic-Con in 2015, talking about Season 9 and his campaign to bring the Mondasian Cybermen back to life:

And of course, it’s an idea that has long caught the imagination of fans:

Even more so now:

This, from January 14, is weirdly prophetic (apart from the Ninth Doctor bit):

And with Anneke Wills, who played the First Doctor’s companion Polly in “The Tenth Planet” tweeting this picture, it seems the Whoniverse is going Cybercrazy right now:

In fact, this sums things up rather well:

Here’s what else has been going on in space and time this week:

• Just a reminder:

• Doctor Who Magazine pays tribute to John Hurt, the War Doctor:

• Want to see the Twelfth Doctor in a version of the 1986 Doctor Who title credits?

• Twelfth Doctor books are on the way:

• How’s this for a metal version of the Who theme?

• A delighted Doctor: “Everybody lives!”

• Nardole rocks a spectacular dressing gown:

• The Second Doctor’s battle with “The Dominators” gets a teaser trailer:

• Beautiful Daleks:

• Another regeneration epic unpicked, starring coconut fish fingers and Tigger:

• This seems like a good Moment for a Bad Wolf:

• A spoof book about the Movellans, from “Destiny of the Daleks:”

• The Eighth Doctor returns (with able assistance from Alex Kingston, Rufus Hound, Nicola Walker and Jacqueline Pearce, among others):

• A fine portrait, if slightly forgettable:

• It has indeed:

And finally, let’s end this week with this worrying observation:

The good news is, the next sound you should hear is that of the TARDIS arriving, and then everything will be fine.

TTFN!
