We’re constantly covering all things Benedict Cumberbatch — like the time he starred in the Elbow music video, or when he interviewed fellow Anglo fan favorite Tom Hiddleston, and the latest casting update about him portraying a 400-year-0ld man. But we almost forgot he and wife Sophie Hunter (now officially Sophie Cumberbatch) were expecting a baby. Sophie sported a baby bump in October 2016, when she attended the Doctor Strange premiere with her actor hubby and star of the film.
Cumberbatch hasn’t released a statement himself — but People magazine has reported that the couple’s second child, named Hal Auden Cumberbatch, arrived on Friday, March 3. News of the baby’s arrival started to spread this past Sunday, arriving stateside yesterday (March 27).
The couple, who married in 2015, also have a 21-month old son, named Christopher Carlton.
Cumberbatch caught up with chat show host, Graham Norton, soon after becoming a dad for the first time.
Norton was sweet to congratulate him, saying, “The last time you were here, since then, you’ve become a daddy!” Cumberbatch shook his head in agreement, saying, “I have. And, a husband, as well.”
Without skipping a beat, Norton followed-up with, “Was it a Cumber-boy or a Cumber-girl?”
The Sherlock star had a giggle and could barely get out his answer: “A Cumber-[insert laughter]-boy.”
Well, now that the second Cumberbatch child has arrived, they’re well on their way to having a “batch” of kids, as Norton cheekily suggests.
Congratulations to Benedict and Sophie — have fun with your Cumber-bundle of joy!Read More
