This week must be Sci-fi Movie Cast Photo Week. Already we’ve had the actors of Alien: Covenant cheesing for the camera, and now here’s a shot of the cast and directors of the upcoming standalone Han Solo movie.
Filming started at Pinewood Studios in London on Monday (February 20), with the official Star Wars Twitter account releasing a photo from the set yesterday (February 21):

It looks like none of them are in costume, although Alden Ehrenreich‘s brown leather jacket brings him one step closer to the young Han Solo he’s playing.
Surrounding him are: (from left to right) co-director Christopher Miller, Woody Harrelson, who’s reported to be playing a mentor-like figure for the young Han, Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who we recently reported would be playing a CG character, Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ Joonas Suotamoas as Chewbacca, second co-director Phil Lord, and Atlanta‘s Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian.
The only person missing is Westworld star Thandie Newton, who, according to Variety, will play an unknown character in the origins story of the infamous space smuggler.
Otherwise they’re all there, and we must say they’re looking pretty happy to be at the controls of what looks to be the Millennium Falcon.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” said directors Lord and Miller in a statement. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
The as-yet untitled Han Solo film is due to hit theaters on May 25, 2018 — just five months after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (aka Episode VIII) on Dec. 15, 2017.
