English indie-rock band Elbow released their latest music video on Friday (January 27), and it features a surprise cameo by one Benedict Cumberbatch.

His is one of many different faces shown in close-up singing along to the band’s new song “Gentle Storm,” before seamlessly morphing into one another.

It’s not the first time Benedict’s made a foray into the music world, of course: Last year he joined Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on stage for a rendition of “Comfortably Numb.” And then there was this scene in August: Osage County, though we’re not sure if that counts.

A statement on the band’s website described how the video was directed by 10cc‘s Kevin Godley, who was also responsible for the one made for Godley & Creme‘s 1985 song “Cry” it recreates. That doesn’t answer our most pressing question, however, which is what on earth was Benedict doing there? His cameo wasn’t mentioned in any of the promotional material, meaning it’s even possible to miss him.

“We got a load of our friends and family involved so they ALSO are in it. The shoot day was incredible, video shoots can be quite grim but it was such a great atmosphere that Kevin created and the finished film is something we are amazingly proud to be involved with,” says Elbow frontman Guy Garvey.

Eagle-eyed viewers will also spot Garvey’s wife, the actress Rachael Stirling (Capital, Detectorists), among the faces.

But it’s Benedict’s appearance about a minute and a half in that is the biggest surprise, as he mouths along to the refrain, “Fall in love with me / Every day”:

Okay, Benedict: Your wish is our command.
