The forthcoming comedy Holmes and Watson, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, was announced this past August. And the casting news keeps rolling out.

If there are any doubts about going down the funny path with this classic story, then possibly news of the latest actors to be cast will calm any conflicting feelings: Hugh Laurie, who just walked away with a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Richard Roper in The Night Manager, has signed on to join the film. And that’s not the only update, with Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Harry Potter) on deck, too. We love a good two-for-one deal.

It hasn’t been announced what roles the two will be playing just yet.

If you’re more prone to thinking of Laurie in dramatic roles, here’s a throwback to his early days opposite his comedy partner Stephen Fry:

Fiennes has been known to work out his funny bone as well:

By this point we all know the story of the British detective Sherlock Holmes and his more sensible companion Doctor John Watson, who work together to solve seemingly unsolvable cases.

This time around, writer and director Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) will be putting his own comedic twist on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s creation.

The cast is rounded out with Rob Brydon (The Trip, Gavin & Stacey) as the head of Scotland Yard, Kelly Macdonald (T2: Trainspotting, Boardwalk Empire) as Holmes’ housekeeper and Rebecca Hall (The BFG, Iron Man 3) as Dr. Grace Hart, reports Variety.

You can look for Holmes and Watson in 2018.

Who wlese would you like to see cast in the film?
