The trailer released today (November 3) of the long-awaited sequel to ’90s cult classic Trainspotting starts familiarly enough: There’s the frantic beat of “Born Slippy” by Underworld, a frenetic series of shots of Edinburgh, before Ewan McGregor starts a voiceover with the words “Choose Life.”

It’s only with his mention of “Facebook,” “Twitter,” and “Instagram” that we realize this is the present day, and not 1996.

Yep, that’s right, Mark “Rent Boy” Renton (McGregor) is back, picking up where he left off 20 years ago. Certainly the trailer is full of scenes of sex, drugs, and mayhem that made the original movie so popular. Or are things different now? Has Renton finally cleaned up his act and gotten sober?

You decide:

The sequel sees all four main stars of the original return, with Renton reuniting with Begbie (Robert Carlyle), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Spud (Ewen Bremner).

Based loosely on author Irvine Welsh‘s novel Porno, his sequel to Trainspotting, the film also brings John Hodge, who penned the original, and Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Steve Jobs, 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire), back together.

Hopes are high for this one, and there’s not long to wait: T2: Trainspotting opens in theaters in the U.S. on February 3, 2017.
