Miss Peregrine director Tim Burton describes the orphanage’s mistress as a “scary Mary Poppins” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. In the recently released clip below, we get to hear Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) describe what she is exactly in her own words.

She’s not so scary and seems quite comforting actually:

It’s just a guess, but she’s probably the type of being who is kind to the ones she favors. It’s just a matter of staying on her good side.

On the other hand, we get to know the villainous Barron (Samuel L. Jackson) in the below clip. He is a little scary, but he’s meant to be. Even so, he shows off his sense of humor in the last bit of the clip with a zinger of a one-liner:

The film adaptation of Ransom Rigg‘s 2011 YA novel hits theaters on September 30, 2016. In addition to Green and Jackson, you can look for familiar faces like Asa Butterfield, Dame Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Chris O’Dowd, Terence Stamp and Allison Janney.
