Should we unofficially deem this Jamie Dornan Week, with three posts already dedicated to his upcoming work? It’s not us, it’s him. He’s a very busy guy at the moment.
With season three of The Fall premiering in the U.K. on September 29 (and hopefully in the U.S. soon after) it doesn’t look like things are slowing down any time soon.
We had a first look at season three of The Fall just a few weeks ago. The teaser trailer showed Gillian Anderson, who portrays Superintendent Stella Gibson, doing laps in a pool. Surely this routine was meant to be relaxing, but she had serial killer Paul Spector (Dornan) on the brain.
Spector’s presence was felt in the teaser. We heard the last words he spoke during the season two cliffhanger finale, but we didn’t actually see Dornan. It wasn’t clear if and when his character would actually return for the next season. We’re about to drop a spoiler if you haven’t seen season two just yet: we last saw Spector struggling for his life after being shot, with Gibson holding him in her arms.
In the new trailer we do see Spector and what state he is in. He’s made it to the hospital but it looks like he’s on life support. Gibson doesn’t mince words, saying, “I want him to live so he can spend the rest of his life in prison.”
She has quite a connection to this man. She’s been trailing for him two, now three, seasons.

Yes, and if you think you spotted Jeff from Coupling, that is indeed Richard Coyle as an ER doctor in the above trailer. We can expect to see other new characters folded into the crime drama, portrayed by actors Krister Henriksson (Wallander), Aidan McArdle (Mr. Selfridge), Ruth Bradley (Humans), Aisling Bea (The Delivery Man).
Series regulars like Colin Morgan (DS Tom Anderson), John Lynch (Jim Burns), Valene Kane (Rose Stagg), Stuart Graham (Matt Eastwood), Bronagh Waugh (Sally Ann Spector), and Aisling Franciosi (Katie Benedetto) will be making their return.
