Just call us Dorn-ophenia already.

Last week we told you Jamie Dornan had a new film out; he was back breaking hearts as Christian Grey in the new Fifty Shades Darker trailer; and he could be seen lurking in a new trailer for season three of The Fall. Well, today (September 20) there’s talk of another new role in the offing for the in-demand actor.

Variety is reporting that Jamie is in talks to star in Robin Hood: Origins, a new film that promises to fill in the backstory of the original vigilante in tights.

(Our calls as to whether this means Jamie will be wearing tights went unanswered.)

Jamie won’t be playing the title role, however. That role, and those tights, will be filled by Eddie the Eagle‘s Taron Egerton, with Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) playing Little John and Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) as Maid Marian.

Jamie will play Will Scarlett, Robin’s half-brother who goes on to become the most skilled swordsman of the Merry Men.

The film is slated for a 2017 release, and looks set to be another blockbuster in the Hollywood tradition of Robin Hood movies, a tradition that includes 2010’s Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman, and stretches all the way back to the dawn of cinema. This latest example, with a starry cast, and helmed by Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst, also counts one Leonardo DiCaprio among its producers.

What do you think of Jamie’s new role?
