How about this for an exciting prospect? A new movie starring Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling is being called a cross between The Devil Wears Prada and Broadcast News.

Variety reports it will star Emma as a veteran broadcaster in danger of losing her long-running series after she hires her first female writer, portrayed by Mindy, who will also write the screenplay. It certainly brings to mind the relationship between Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway‘s characters in Prada, doesn’t it?

The as-yet-untitled film will be Mindy’s third movie in the works, along with the female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven, and her role as Mrs. Who in Disney’s upcoming adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle.

Meanwhile Emma is fresh from her performance in Bridget Jones’s Baby, a film for which she also has a co-writing credit. With her writing prowess on show in films such as Sense and Sensibility, Nanny McPhee, and Effie Gray, she’s bound to have advice for Mindy, whose first feature-length screenplay this will be.

And judging from this recent tweet listing her seven favorite films ever, the Inside Out star will be all ears:

What do you think of this combination?
