Who you gonna call? Dame Helen Mirren, of course. That’s because her next movie—just as soon as she stops messing about with cars, that is—will see her battling ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night.

Deadline reports she will play Sarah Winchester, an heiress convinced she was being haunted by the souls of people killed by the Winchester repeating rifle, which, having been invented by her father-in-law, had netted her an enormous fortune, equivalent to about $22,000 a day in today’s money.

Written and directed by Predestination‘s Michael and Peter Spierig, Winchester will detail how, shortly after the death of her husband and baby daughter, Sarah used her money to fast-track the construction of a vast mansion—the famous Winchester Mystery House in San Jose—because she had allegedly been told by a spirit medium that it was necessary to prevent her own death.

The building continued off-and-on, sometimes requiring carpenters to work 24/7, for 38 years until her death in 1922 at the age of 83. The labyrinthine Winchester Mystery House is now a tourist attraction, but the film promises to take audiences even further into its hidden passages, as skeptical San Francisco psychiatrist Eric Price discovers that her obsession might not be so insane after all.

Muahahahaha. Now that does sound spooky.

Will you see Winchester?
