Mayim Bialik is living the life. She stars on one of the most popular shows on TV, The Big Bang Theory, as Sheldon’s better half Amy. And now she gets to live out a dream, taking on the role of some of her favorite Star Trek characters.
It’s kind of like playing dress up, but in this case, the closet is that of the USS Enterprise. Bialik has a penchant for the days of yesteryear, with the “vintage” 1966-69 series Star Trek being her go-to in the franchise.
She talked to CBS Watch! Magazine about her affinity for the original TV series, saying, “My Star Trek experience is mainly vintage Star Trek. I grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s and so we were seeing a lot of older Star Trek [at the photo shoot].”
Bialik even went to the theater to watch Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn in 1982. She was so alarmed by the scene with the earwig (which we remember with sheer terror) that she had to call her parents to pick her up her.
The TV star pulled from those memories as part of the photo shoot, embodying characters like Captain Kirk (William Shatner), Commander Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney), Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Data (Brent Spiner) from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
No Wesley Crusher? Maybe Sheldon put in a request to skip Wesley due to his long-standing feud with Star Trek actor Wil Wheaton.
