Javier Bardem took on the role of a monster in No Country for Old Men, and this time around Universal is considering him for another kind of creature.
It’s not been confirmed, but multiple news organizations are reporting Bardem is in talks to join the currently untitled Universal Studios monster project. Some outlets are referring to the role as Frankenstein, with others saying Frankenstein’s monster (the latter being correct).
This tweet from Variety writer Justin Kroll, who broke the news, sets the record straight:
To be clear, he would be playing the monster in some form not Victor

While it’s not official, it has people thinking about Universal’s Monster Universe. Tom Cruise is currently filming The Mummy, starring as Tyler Colt. Cruise is joined by Russell Crowe, who takes on the role of Dr. Henry Jekyll. The Mummy is set to release in 2017.
Variety is predicting Frankenstein’s monster will turn up in an earlier film, prior to the 2019 monster project, and it may be The Mummy.
Universal has another “mystery feature” coming out in 2018, which is believed to be a remake of Bride of Frankenstein.
Bardem has completed filming for 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He takes on the role of Captain Salazar. We can look for him in the biopic Escobar as drug lord Pablo Escobar, also out in 2017.
