We know it’s hard to think of life before Doctor Who, but prior to her role as River Song, Alex Kingston starred in NBC’s hit show ER from 1997 to 2009 as Dr. Elizabeth Corday. And now she’s making it back to American television for another oldie but goodie, Gilmore Girls, which is getting a reboot via Netflix.

But, before we get to the new news, let’s take a quick step back.

In case you missed it or need a refresher, here is Kingston in the emergency room:

In the below clip she gushes about her time on ER:

All right, now that we’ve taken a trip down memory lane, Kingston has a new role to talk about about. She’ll be joining original Gilmore Girls cast members Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Melissa McCarthy for the U.S. revival of the cult classic.

She talked about what to expect at Miami’s Supercon this past weekend, saying, “I play a very eccentric character in a couple of those episodes. It was so funny for them to sort of reboot it again. Alexis … she’s all grown up. She’s got a baby. I remember when she was so young,” reports RadioTimes.

Kingston also shared with the Supercon audience that when filming ER, the medical drama shared the same Warner Bros. lot with Gilmore Girls. When she talks about Bledel starting off the show as a teen in the above interview, she’s pulling from first-hand experience. Bledel is now 34 and married to Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser. The couple recently had their first child this past May.

The British actress has already completed her scenes for Gilmore Girls, saying, “It was great. We were on location, which was nice. But that’s all I’m going to say.”

We like how she plays coy, but she’s already said so much. She had us at Gilmore Girls.

Are you excited to find out more about her role?
