We recently told you about a touching interview Christopher Eccleston did to promote a drama series airing in the U.K. Well, now it’s our turn, as The A Word finally arrives on these shores.
The “A word” in question is autism, though, as the trailer suggests, that’s the least of the family’s problems. The Ninth Doctor plays Maurice Scott, the recently widowed grandfather of five-year-old Joe, whose uncooperative behavior suggests something altogether more serious—although, truth be told, no one in the family behaves as they should.
Love, lust, family breakups, rivalries, aging, death—it’s all in there, and set against an indie pop soundtrack and the stunning backdrop of the English Lake District. Lee Ingleby (Stan Shunpike in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), Morven Christie (Doctor Who) and Vinette Robinson (Sherlock) also star, in what looks set to be a feel-good hit this summer.
It premieres on SundanceTV on July 13, and Vanity Fair has an exclusive look at the trailer:Read More
