We mentioned the other day that the 2001 Ocean’s Eleven film, a remake in itself, based on the 1960 original movie starring Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Angie Dickinson, will be getting a follow-up driven by a female cast.

Based on our comments section on Facebook, a lot of people are up in arms about the franchise continuing (and there are others cheering for the upcoming film, offering casting suggestions). While pulling in a stellar cast so far, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Banchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling, some would like to see an original project on the books.

But, from what we hear, it seems like the performance will be unique, simply platforming off of an earlier story. The working title for now is Ocean’s Ocho, with eight women picking up where the original cast left off. The group of crafty thieves has their eye on a necklace secured at the Met Ball.

Last week there were rumblings of Elizabeth Banks possibly joining the cast, but it was just that, whispers. And now it’s been confirmed, according to ComingSoon.net.

Banks, who has starred as Effie Trinket in the The Hunger Games series and took on other memorable roles in projects like Wet Hot American Summer, Pitch Perfect and Tina Fey‘s 30 Rock, is now set to join the reboot.

Banks is on a roll. We’re also looking forward to seeing her portray the iconic Power Rangers character Rita Repulsa, first brought to life in the ’90s. The Power Rangers film is set for 2017.

Are you on board for the reboot?
