You may remember Vince Chase (Adrian Grenier) got his big film break as Aquaman in the TV series Entourage.

And now Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa, who portrayed Khal Drogo, is set to bring the character to life in the feature-length film adaptation of the DC Comics series. Momoa already made a brief cameo as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and is currently filming Justice League, starring as Aquaman, set for 2017.

Director James Wan (Furious 7, Saw) talked to Cinema Blend about introducing Aquaman to the world of film superheroes.

Wan told CB, “There are so many superhero movies now; I don’t want to make a superhero movie now for the sake of doing it, but there’s something unique to the world of Aquaman.”

He goes on to explain why it’s taken so long to bring Aquaman to the big screen, saying, “There’s a reason why they’ve never made a movie about this until now, because technology has never allowed us to tackle something this complicated.”

Wan is ready to make Aquaman happen, saying, “And so because of that it feels like something different, and that uniqueness is what I’m excited about.”

Aquaman’s real name is Arthur Curry. He’s the son of a lighthouse keeper and the Queen of Atlantis (Amber Heard), making him both human and a god. You can find out more about Aquaman from the Justice League team in the below featurette:
