This is not a drill.

Dame Helen Mirren has just confirmed her role in Fast 8, the 2017 installment of the Fast and Furious series, reports Elle.

The actress had a sit-down with the magazine, covering a lot of material, talking about her recently released film Eye in the Sky, what made her want to do the war movie, the research she put in, what motivates her character, but it was the last bit and her very straightforward answer that stood out.

Mirren was asked, “So you are confirmed for Fast 8?

Which she simply replied, “Yes, I am.”

Well, there it is.

The Oscar-winning actress started talking about her wish to be behind the wheel in the action series last year, telling Yahoo! Movies, “I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving. I was on Top Gear, and I did (my lap) in a very good time.”

She continued on, saying, “I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me.” (Maybe, possibly, the Fast 8 highers-up weren’t sure if she was being serious?)

Mirren talked about the role again when appearing on The Graham Norton Show this past April:

Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel heard her, and when asked about wanting the acclaimed actress to join the franchise, he answered, “Of course I would! Who wouldn’t? It’s Helen.”

The hint was taken and now she’s been asked.

Now you want to see her Top Gear lap, right? Here it is:

Was there ever any doubt Helen would get her wish?
