Welsh actor Craig Roberts has had an interesting career since breaking onto the scene in 2010 with the indie hit Submarine. Aside from appearances in British TV shows Being Human and Skins, probably his most notable role was an appearance in 2014 comedy Neighbors; while he’s also dabbled in directing music videos and his own debut feature Just Jim.
But he’s staying transatlantic for his next acting role, in which he’ll face off with Ant-Man star Paul Rudd: comedy-drama The Fundamentals of Caring. It’s based on the novel The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving by Jonathan Evison, and sees Roberts playing a foul-mouthed teenager with muscular dystrophy who meets Rudd’s newly-qualified caregiver. The pair’s uneasy relationship is stretched by a road trip across the U.S.A. to visit the country’s “lamest roadside attractions”.
Selena Gomez and Jennifer Ehle (BBC’s Pride and Prejudice) co-star in the film, which was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year but has now been picked up for exclusive distribution by Netflix. Here’s the trailer, which has just debuted online:
