It’s Friday, and you know what that means! That’s right—it’s time for a grim reminder of our mortality and the short time we have left on this earth!

Thankfully the makers of Penny Dreadful have stepped in to do the honors. The horror series returns to our screens this May 1, and by the looks of the trailer, its third outing is going to be even darker and even more haunting than the previous two seasons.

Ethan (Josh Hartnett), Vanessa (Eva Green), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and Lily (Billie Piper) are all in attendance, not to mention the usual supporting cast of ghouls and monsters such as Dorian Gray, Frankenstein and Dracula.

This new season also sees a few new names joining the regular cast. Tony Award-winning star Patti LuPone (American Horror Story) guest starred in the show last season as the Cut-Wife, and now returns as series regular Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Vanessa with an unconventional new approach.

Wes Studi (Hell On Wheels) joins as Kaetenay, an intense, enigmatic Native American with a deep connection to Ethan and who becomes an ally to Sir Malcolm, and Shazad Latif, a British actor you might recognize from spy drama MI-5, plays Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Henry Jekyll.

See if you can spot them in the trailer, which is made all the more creepy by Ursine Vulpine‘s electro-grunge take on The Flaming Lips‘ “Do You Realize”:

Er, on second thoughts, we might stay in tonight.
