Mark Rylance and Steven Spielberg may be the new bromance in town.
The two worked together on the film Bridge of Spies, which won Rylance the 2016 Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. We can listen for Rylance as the voice of the big friendly giant in the film adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s The BFG, also directed by Spielberg. It was just recently announced that Rylance will be starring in The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara … we will give you one guess who the director will be: yes, Spielberg.
Why stop there? Now, the two are set to work on the sci-fi thriller Ready Player One, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on Ernest Cline‘s dystopian novel by the same name, released in 2011. The story follows teenager Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), who feels at his best when plugged into the virtual universe OASIS. Rylance is set to play James Donovan Halliday, the reclusive creator of OASIS. Halliday has set up an elaborate digital treasure hunt to go into action upon his death, with his vast fortune as the prize.
The BFG will hit U.S. theaters this July. The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara is set for 2017. And Ready Player One is predicted to release in 2018.
These two are tied together for years to come.
Do you think this is a dream team or what?
