The Girl on the Train trailer has so much going on in it, but not in a spoiler-y way, because we still have no idea what’s to come.

Emily Blunt stars as Rachel Watson, a divorced woman in her thirties, who struggles with alcoholism and has lost her job due to her drinking. Rather than telling the people in her life she’s unemployed, she continues to ride the train to work as if it’s business as usual. She passes time sipping on camouflaged cocktails, staring out the window, daydreaming about the world she views from her seat.

During her faux commute Rachel spots a woman standing under a bridge with a man. The next day, it’s reported the woman has gone missing, and it turns out she was the nanny (Haley Bennett) for Rachel’s ex-husband (Justin Theroux) and his new wife Anna (Rebecca Ferguson).

Rachel herself doesn’t know where she was the night the nanny went missing. She’s prone to have alcohol-induced blackouts, but in this case, she doesn’t know what led up to the missing hours.

You can see the story unravel in the trailer below:

The film is based on Paula Hawkins’ 2015 best-selling debut novel by the same name. Hawkins’ story was based in London, but the film is set in upstate New York and NYC.

The Girl on the Train will hit theaters in the U.S. and U.K. on October 7.

Any theories: does Rachel know something or is it all imagined?
