At this point in Bridget Jones’s life, you might think she’s settled down, also keeping in mind the title of the next installment of the movie series being Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Miss Jones (Renée Zellweger) had those expectations too in the new trailer. We get a glimpse of her walking down the aisle, ready for her “happy ever after.” But alas, it’s only a daydream.

We find good ol’ Bridge single as ever and still giving herself pep talks. She decides not to dwell on the negatives and love her new life of spinning (stationary cycling), clubbing, new men (Patrick Dempsey), new job as top producer at a news program, and maintaining a good relationship with her ex (Colin Firth).

Her new life also includes … a pregnancy.

She’s caught off guard with the “tiny development” and isn’t quite sure who the father is. There’s a 50/50 chance it’s Mr. Darcy (Firth) and a 50/50 chance it’s the new guy in her life (Dempsey).

Her life is completely under control (sort of) in the below trailer:

Bridget Jones’s Diary author Helen Fielding was on NPR this morning (March 23). She talked about her start working at Britain’s Independent newspaper in the 1990s where she developed the Bridget Jones character in a series of columns. Fielding says in the interview that she was “pretty shambolic” when she started at the paper. She goes on to say, “I was a bit like Bridget Jones actually.”
