In the quest to find well-known titles with built-in box-office clout, no property is off-limits. (Can we expect a Godfather trilogy reboot in our lifetimes?) So it should come as no surprise that Ben-Hur is being adapted again for the big screen, and Paramount has released the high-horsepower trailer featuring Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Homeland‘s Nazanin Boniadi, and a strikingly dreadlocked Morgan Freeman. Just imagine Gladiator meets Mad Max: Fury Road, and you’ll sense the effect they’re going for here.

Ben-Hur has been a 1925 Ramon Novarro silent film and, most famously, a pricey (for the time) 1959 epic starring a chiseled Charlton Heston in the title role. Given that Ben-Hur is one of Hollywood’s classic titles, it’s fitting that the leading role is now played by Tinseltown royalty. (Huston is the grandson of famed director John Huston and nephew of actress Anjelica Huston.) Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), Ben-Hur hits theaters on August 12.
