Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice 2 … okay, we’ve said it three times, now Beetlejuice 2 is coming to life.
Don’t worry. That’s not the only reason we’re confident Beetlejuice 2 is happening. Director Tim Burton says so, too.
The original Beetlejuice was released in 1988, starring Michael Keaton in the title role, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones and somewhat of a newbie at the time, Winona Ryder.
Burton talked to Showbiz Spy about the sequel and returning cast members, saying, “The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael.”
It sounds like Burton is at the final stretch. He followed up with the entertainment website, saying, “We have the script in hand, everything is in place, all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.”
In 2014 Burton talked to ComingSoon.net about catching up with the quirky ghost, saying, “It’s a character that I love and I miss and I miss actually working with Michael (Keaton).”
He went on to say, “There’s only one Betelgeuse. We’re working on a script and I think it’s probably closer than ever and I’d love to work with him again.”
That was two years ago, so now we really are closer than ever.
