40. The Last Panthers
The opening credits for the 2015 series The Last Panthers includes a theme specifically created for the show by David Bowie. The song is accompanied by images of hands, guns, and floral drawings.

39. The Hour
The intro for the 1950s-set BBC AMERICA series The Hour (2011-2013) has a theme song set to the sound of fingers snapping. We see geometric shapes dancing to the music, followed by what appears to be airwaves (which make sense with the show being about making a TV news show).

38. Homeland
Set to a cacophonous jazz number, the intro for the political drama uses real-life news and propaganda reels, mixed with images of a young child soaking it all in watching television. The opening credits for season one also includes footage from the series, starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. Homeland premiered in 2011 and will be back with its sixth season in September 2016.

37. Orphan Black
The opening credits of BBC AMERICA’s Orphan Black take us through the fantastic inner workings of DNA. The fourth season of the clone drama starring Tatiana Maslany premieres April 14.

36. Jessica Jones
The intro for the Netflix original series Jessica Jones teases us with people’s shadows, framed by purple-hued building settings. The TV adaptation of the Marvel comics premiered in 2015.

35. Downton Abbey
We get a tour of the Crawleys’ stately home in the Downton Abbey opening credits. The intro teases glimpses of people moving through DA, but the reveal is saved for the actual episode. The series ran for six seasons and just recently came to an end.

34. Sex and the City
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) struts her stuff through NYC in a basic pink tank during the opening credits for Sex and the City. She is on top of the world … that is, until she’s brought down to earth by a typical NYC moment.

33. The Americans
The Americans‘ fast-paced intro mimics the rate of decision-making that happens during a Cold War. We see images of the Russian spies, sandwiched between photos of life in the U.S. and the Soviet Union, and laced with propaganda footage from both nations. The fourth season of The Americans just premiered this month.

32. True Blood
The True Blood opening credits are set to Jace Everett‘s “Bad Things.” There’s no sign of the series’ actors in the intro—Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin, and Rutina Wesley—but instead contains images of swamp life and people presumably from the South (where the series is based).

31. Archer
The intro for this animated show is cool, sexy, and mysterious. But it’s also whimsical. The spy series kicked off in 2009 and is still on air with its seventh season.
