Doctor Who fans know her as Missy, but the masterfully talented Michelle Gomez has a new role in the pipeline. Deadline is reporting that Gomez will join Richard Coyle in Amazon’s The Collection, a post-WWII period piece set in Paris’ glamorous fashion scene. (Savvy fans will recognize that Gomez is married to Jack Davenport, Coyle’s former Coupling co-star. May the circle be unbroken.)

In The Collection, Coyle is set to play a visionary fashion designer with ambitions to bring Paris out of its war-torn doldrums, while Tom Riley plays his brother, the true brains behind the operation. Frances de la Tour takes on the role of the Machiavellian matriarch of the clan while Mamie Gummer portrays Coyle’s American expat wife. Radio Times reports that Gomez will play a fashion editor, whom one hopes will be some larger-than-life diva who spouts aperçus between puffs of cigarette smoke. Sarah Parish, Jenna Thiam, Max Deacon, Michael Kitchen, Irène Jacob, James Cosmo, Patrick Kennedy, and Allan Corduner are just among the performers in the impressive cast who will be shooting in France and Wales up to May. We’ll keep you posted on when the drama arrives stateside.
