The Suicide Squad is made up of the worst kind of superheroes, super-villains tasked with completing covert operations in exchange for reduced prison sentences, according to DC Comics.
If you aren’t already familiar with the comics, the trailer may be confusing at first glance: are they good guys or bad guys?
Well, they’re bad guys who are, at least for now, compromising with the U.S. government.
The super-villains are kept in check with an explosive device implanted in their neck in case they they try to run. This explains the group’s name; they’re all expendable.
The below trailer, starring Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (The Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), speeds you up on the storyline:
The feature-length film, premiering on August 5, will also star Viola Davis as Amanda Waller (she hands out the squad’s missions), and Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common in “mystery roles.”
