Awards season is kicking into high gear, with the BAFTA Film Awards announcing their nominees this morning (January 8). Todd Haynes‘ Carol and Steven Spielberg‘s Bridge of Spies both lead this year’s field with nine nominations each. (Notably, the latest James Bond film Spectre was shut out by the Brit-loving academy, even in tech categories.) Meanwhile, Luther star Idris Elba has nabbed a Best Supporting Actor nod for Beasts of No Nation. And Alicia Vikander, campaigned in the Supporting Actress category for The Danish Girl, has received another nomination as Lead Actress for that film while receiving a Supporting nom for Ex Machina.

Are we finally seeing a complete award season picture forming as we head towards next week’s Oscar nominations, which will be revealed next Thursday (January 14)? Here’s the full list of BAFTA nominees. The EE British Academy Film Awards air Sunday, February 14 at 7:30 pm ET on BBC AMERICA:
