After quite a long wait, the first proper trailer has arrived for Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Hank Williams.

I Saw The Light is a fairly meticulous recreation of the birth of a country legend, although hearing the voice of Loki affect an Alabama twang does take a little bit of getting used to. Visually he’s very close to the original, and the music is as faithful a reproduction as you could hope for, given that Hank’s musical stock in trade was an unvarnished emotional honesty, like the gleam on a freshly hammered nail.

By which I mean, if everyone could be Hank Williams, there’d be a lot more of them:

For his part, Tom introduced the clip on his Facebook page, saying: “Here at last is the trailer for I SAW THE LIGHT. I threw my whole soul at it. Hope you enjoy it.”

I Saw The Light is in cinemas from March 25, 2016.
