New and epic levels of BOOM! are available in the new teaser for The Legend of Tarzan. It’s another retelling of the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs tale of a man raised by apes, only this time, there’s no fun business with cheetah and no Phil Collins songs.
What there is is a very buff Alexander Skarsgard in the title role, Margot Robbie as Jane, Christoph Waltz as the bad guy, and at least one references that suggests everyone in the movie has also read the Tarzan books:
Actually, it’s a strange trailer, in that among all the loud noises and forbidding music, there are special effects sequences that look a little weightless and depthless and very dark and blue. Director David Yates’s experiences with the Harry Potter movies should stand him in good stead to create an exciting world from CGI in his latest literary translation, so maybe the rest of the movie is where all the really good bits are.
Apart from the jumping off the cliff bit, that’s almost good enough to make you forget how badly that would pull Tarzan’s arms out of his sockets.
Legend of Tarzan is in theaters in July 2016.Read More
