We’re knee-deep in awards season, with the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations being announced this morning (December 9). Congratulations to Idris Elba, star of BBC AMERICA’s Luther, who received a Best Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries nomination for his role as DCI John Luther in the upcoming Luther special event. You can watch his nominated performance in the one-night event Thursday, December 17 at 9/8c on BBC AMERICA.

In addition, Elba picked up a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation and is nominated as part of the film’s ensemble, which only strengthens his Oscar buzz. Has it ever been cooler to be Idris Elba? He’s already set the bar pretty high, that guy.
