Seeing as half the world’s entertainment media has now started chasing any British actor who looks good in a suit to ask if they might be up for playing James Bond, here is Benedict Cumberbatch’s current answer to the question, which follows hard on the heels of Tom Hiddleston’s slightly more excited response from last week.

It should be noted, of course, that Daniel Craig—the current James Bond—may have been quoted as saying he’d rather slash his wrists than start another Bond movie, he was asked that question only four days after finishing a long and complicated shoot in which he had to stop for a bit because he had injured his knee.

So while he may have decided to quit, he may also have been making a flippant comment about how much he will enjoy a few weeks off and the chance to play someone different for a change.

In any case, here’s Benedict fielding the question that every British leading male will currently be dreading (while still desperately hoping that people think enough of them to consider it worth asking in the first place):
