Colin Firth and Renée Zellweger star in the 'Bridget Jones's Diary' series. (Universal)

Mark your calendars or write it in your diary, however you remember things, because the third installment of Bridget Jones’s Diary has a date.

Colin Firth and Renée Zellweger, already spotted on set, return for Bridget Jones’s Baby, with the film scheduled for September 16, 2016.

Let’s see, it’s October now, so that’s a little less than a year away. It may seem like a slightly long wait, but the last film, The Edge of Reason, hit theaters in 2004.

A year is nothing compared to the last stretch.

In addition to Firth and Zellweger, one of Bridget’s besties Shazza, played by Sally Phillips (Miranda), is set to return. Patrick Dempsey is also confirmed to star in the new film. His role has not been announced, but purely based on speculation; he looked cozy next to Shazza in the set photos, so possibly he’s her American import?

Again, that’s a guesstimate. But we are on pins and needle to find out more about the storylines, which are being pulled from author Helen Fielding’s newspaper columns prior to the books being published.

Are you excited Bridget Jones is making her way back?
