Having announced a new Harry Potter play, ready to run in London next year, J.K. Rowling has spent much of the weekend patting down persistent rumors that it’s the story of how Harry came to get his scar; the story of how his parents were attacked by Lord Voldemort and were killed; that it is, y’know, a prequel.

Despite having stated in her original tweeted announcement that this is not the case…

She also explained that she did not write the script either. The production has been scripted by Jack Thorne, from her original idea which has been developed by the production team.

To sum up: not a prequel, but definitely an equal.
