Sir Ian McKellen takes on the iconic role of Mr. Sherlock Holmes. (BBC Films)

Mr. Holmes hits U.S. theaters on July 17, and we have a new trailer.

There have been times that a film rolls out photo after photo, and a teaser trailer, and then another trailer, building up to the release, and you’re like, “Really? I know the whole story now,” but this isn’t one of the cases.

We’re thinking, “More please.”

The new trailer had us giggling in the first few seconds with Mr. Holmes (Ian McKellen) whinging about Dr. Watson’s (Colin Starkey) embellished story he published about the famed detective. Apparently, the “real” Holmes never wore a two-brimmed hat, or smoked a pipe, and even prefers cigars.

Mr. Holmes goes to the cinema to watch the film adaptation of his story, and he even lets out a giggle in the trailer.

The earlier trailer introduced us to the semi-retired Holmes, but now we’re clued in about the case he will be wrapping his mind around:

The film is rounded out with American actress Laura Linney and introducing Milo Parker.

If possible, do you love Sir Ian McKellen a little more now?
