Technically the information in this story might count as spoilers, so if you do not wish to know what Martin Freeman might be doing in Captain America: Civil War, look away now.
The hard kernel of information is that the character he plays is not one that has a superhero costume. That’s according to Mark Millar, the writer of Marvel’s Civil War comic book (and the creator of Kick-Ass).
He was talking to Radio Times, and dropped a few hints about what he knows, without entirely giving the game away: “I know who he’s playing in the film, but I guess it’s still a secret.
The character is not a super-person, it’s somebody who’s… well, I don’t want to spoil it for anybody but he’s not going to be in costume.”
“Once you get to see it, it’s so obvious,” he continued. “All I’ll say is, he’s not the Red Skull.”
Not that it’s from a lack of suitability on Martin’s part: “He’s a great actor he could play anyone – he could play Hit-Girl!”
Which is, I’m sure you’ll agree, something we’d all like to see.
