In the U.K. the washing machine is commonly found in the kitchen. Does that count? (Overstock)

Interviewing for a new job can be grueling with people asking you questions that in any other context you’d never be asked.

The U.K. TV broadcaster Channel 4 has a new reality TV show featuring a recruitment firm trying to aid job seekers in the series The Job Centre. In the premiere episode (May 20) a caller was asked, “If you were a kitchen appliance, what kind would you be?” reports North Devon Journal.

She held her composure, no giggling, and answered in a sophisticated manner, “I’d be a pot because I could boil water and make porridge.”

That’s a fair enough answer.

For me, the first thing that comes to mind is a blender because it’s in most kitchens and is a reliable, sturdy machine. Like the blender, I’m fast, as in a fast thinker, and I like to mix things up. In hindsight, answering “a blender” might come across like I’m a troublemaker and that I like to stir things up in a negative way. The best answers always come to you an hour or so after you’ve left the interview.

It’s a hard question to answer, and viewers took to Twitter with their thoughts and responses:

Dare we ask, what kitchen appliance would you be?
