Some people might think, “The more the merrier,” when putting together a dinner party. But really, one person can throw off the entire dynamic.

Late Night’s Seth Meyers invites his new friend Jon Snow, who he met at the gym, to a dinner with friends. Just to be clear, not the actor Kit Harington who plays Snow on Game of Thrones, but the Night’s Watchman himself.

The meal kicks off with some light chitchat: The guests are happy “spring has sprung,” but Snow interrupts, darkly saying, “Winter is coming.” The guests are thrown a bit, but shake it off, and turn the conversation to wine, which prompts a dinner guest to mention his mum. Snow chimes in, announcing, “I never knew my mother. I’m a bastard.”

This is Meyers’ cue to take Snow aside to give him a lesson on making small talk.
