It looks as though Jenna Coleman is about to follow in Karen Gillan’s footsteps and make the jump from TV to movies (her cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier notwithstanding), outside of her day job traversing time and space with the Doctor in Doctor Who.

According to Deadline she’s signed up to join Charles Dance and Emilia Clarke (both Game of Thrones veterans) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) in an adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ bestselling novel Me Before You.

It’s the story of Lou (Emilia) and her attempts to look after Will (Sam), a successful and independent man who has to use a wheelchair following an accident. Naturally he finds the transition from one state of affairs to the other extremely difficult and it’s her job to try and encourage him to find new purpose to his life now that it is different.

The film will be directed by Thea Sharrock, who also directed Daniel Radcliffe’s Broadway run in Equus, and Tom Hiddleston in the Henry V section of the BBC’s historical Shakespeare epic The Hollow Crown.
