Ian McKellen is a master of social media.

The British actor is a regular on Twitter, keeping fans up to speed with photos and commentary, but apparently he’s been making use of Facebook too. Just this week (April 14) he posted about making a trip out to his local.

Here’s a look at his wheels turning at quiz night:

Last night, like every Monday night, was “Quiz Night” at my local pub, The Grapes. My team were named in honour of Olivier winner Angela Lansbury. We came in second.

If that weren’t enough to tide us over in what’s going on Ian’s world, he was kind enough to give us a fly-on-the-wall look at the first sit-down for Beauty and the Beast, in which he stars as the clock Cogsworth opposite Emma Watson, Emma Thompson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans.
