Luke Evans‘ barrel-chested machismo may soon be put to good use once again: the Welsh actor is in negotiations to take on the role of evil Gaston in the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast opposite Emma Watson as Belle, Variety is reporting. Bill Condon, who directed the forthcoming Mr Holmes starring Sir Ian McKellen, will helm the Disney film.

Evans is a major hot commodity these days, fresh off The Hobbit movies with the upcoming High Rise (co-starring fellow fan favorite Tom Hiddleston) on the horizon. Even though Gaston is ostensibly the baddie in B&B, we can only imagine how hot he and Ms. Watson will look paired together. Oh, how our minds wander…

But the real question: who will play the Beast? Casting suggestions, anyone?
