Selma’s David Oyelowo is now a household name (while still a little hard to pronounce for some) in both the U.K. and the U.S., and the roles are rolling in.
Oyelowo is set to star in HBO’s summer release of Nightingale, premiering on May 29, 2015. Oyelowo has top billing because, well, he’s the only actor in the film for the most part.
The story revolves around a war veteran who is on the verge of reuniting with an old friend. We watch him struggle with inner turmoil and the anticipation of the pending meet up.
In addition to Nightingale, Oyelowo has recently been confirmed to star in the feature-length film Captive. Oyelowo plays a fugitive who is on the run after killing multiple people when escaping from a courthouse. He forces his way into a woman’s (Kate Mara) home, holding her captive.
The film is an adaption of the memoir Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero and hits U.S. theaters on September 18, 2015.
In addition to the above we can look forward to seeing Oyelowo in Five Nights in Maine, and Queen of Katwe, which are both awaiting release dates.
