All that biffing around in space and time has clearly given Arthur Darvill a taste for the dressing up box, as he’s signed up to appear in a spin-off from the CW’s Arrow and The Flash as a time-traveler called Rip Hunter.

According to a report in Deadline, Arthur will be playing Rip—a charming time-traveler with a sharp tongue who is responsible for many notable historical events, which sounds oddly familiar somehow—and another character in the show, and will be joined by Ciara Renée as Hawkgirl, as well as Arrow/Flash regulars such as Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave) and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein).

The show has been created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg (who co-created The Flash) and Marc Guggenheim (who joined them to make Arrow), and will form part of the expanding DC Comics media universe.

Expect to see Arthur—who is currently playing Long John Silver in Treasure Island at the National Theatre in London—in action next year.
