Although this is a story that did sneak out over the weekend, it was only confirmed this morning by Benedict Cumberbatch’s spokeswoman that he and Sophie Hunter did indeed get married on Saturday, on the Isle of Wight.
She revealed that it had been a private ceremony for family and close friends, including Tom Hiddleston and Martin Freeman. There is some speculation as to which of these two would have been his best man, but as no one has said for sure either way, neither will we.
And naturally, everything went off without a hitch, as she told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat: “it was a magical day.”
Well played, Cumberfolk.
